The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge held its main fundraiser of the year on Saturday, April 18 at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh hall in Old bridge. Comedy Night 2015, starring comedians Adam Kerr and Tom Caldora, was a sell-out and a complete success. Over 30 baskets were awarded during the tricky tray portion of the event and guest Jackie Interdonato won the 50/50 raffle of $359 and she happily donated $50 back to the club. Even headlining comedian Adam Kerr, recognizing the important work the club does in contributing to numerous children’s charities, called Kiwanis Club President Mary Spina onstage and he donated $100 to the club.
The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge celebrated the Holiday season with some home style food and beverage on December 9th. The Club will mark its 12th birthday on June 3 of the New Year and Kiwanis International will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year.
Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge also hosts a Key Club at Old Bridge High School and Builders Clubs at Carl Sandburg and Jonas Salk Middle Schools. Suzanne Schiavo and Tara Fanning will serve as Faculty Advisors for the Carpenter K-Kids Club.
The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge is holding its biggest and best Yankee Ticket Raffle yet for the 2014 season. A $5 ticket can buy you a chance to win four tickets in the Delta 360 Skybox Suite at Yankee Stadium for the September 6 game against the Kansas City Royals starting at 4:05 p.m. … The Skybox Suite is located right next to the announcers’ booth behind home plate and features free concierge service, free snacks and soda, a private entrance and elevator and free parking.
As for the game itself, the Yankees figure to be in the hunt for the American League pennant right down to the wire and since shortstop and captain Derek Jeter has announced his retirement after the season, this could be one of his last home games. (Who knows, if we get lucky, it could be Derek Jeter Day). Only one thousand tickets have been printed so this is a magnificent bargain and raffle tickets will go like hotcakes.

The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge celebrated its “Roaring 20’s Gangland Mystery” Fundraiser on Saturday, April, 26, 2014 at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Old Bridge and the event proved to be a wonderful success. Nearly one hundred guests were on hand to participate in the interactive murder mystery set in “The Juice Joint” nightclub of the 20’s. Many went home with prizes awarded in the Tricky Tray portion of the event and a New York Giants’ football autographed by defensive star Antrel Rolle was auctioned off at the event.
Old Bridge resident Al Dellelba was the winner of the 50-50 drawing and guests who correctly identified the murderer in the play were rewarded with free tickets to a future play by the Main Street Players Theater Company in Sayreville. All proceeds from the night will be divided up by the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge to benefit the children’s charities to which it donates.
Besides sponsoring five Kiwanis school clubs in the Old Bridge School District, Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge sponsors an Old Bridge Little League team and donates to charities like Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Old Bridge Food Bank, Camp Robin, St. Jude Hospital and others.
The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge celebrated its annual Christmas-New Year’sParty late this year because of December’s snowstorm. The entire club celebrated its Post-Holiday Party at the Outback restaurant on January 28. Members and their guests enjoyed a great meal and came up with some fantastic ideas for the new year.
Newly elected Division 5 Lt.Governor Richard Stryker reads the proclamation inducting Mary Spina as President of the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge for the 2014 year. Ms.Spina was reelected as president as was the entire slate of Old Bridge officers. Induction of Vice-President Steve Goldman, Secretary Bernie Zahran and Treasurer Jackie Sobel was followed by the induction of new members at the club’s Nov. 4 meeting.
Kiwanis International has named the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge as one of its Most Distinguished Clubs for the 2011-2012 year. The award was presented by Division 5 Lt. Governor Anthony Affatati and past District (State) Governor Rosemary Gibardi at the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge’s regular monthly meeting Sept. 24, 2013.
For the second consecutive Christmas, members of the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge donated toys to sick children at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick. Pictured from left are prospective member Louis, Jacqueline Pfingstl, Santa (Bernie Zahran) and Diane and Andy Strus. Toys were distributed to children and their siblings not only in the pediatric care department, but also the emergency room and waiting areas. The surprise visit brought joy to many children who wouldn’t have otherwise enjoyed Christmas of 2012.
