Kiwanis Donates Christmas Gifts to Carl Sandburg Students

For the second consecutive year The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge was extremely happy to donate Christmas gifts to needy students who attend the township’s Carl Sandburg Middle School. Principal Dr. Martha Simon and Guidance Counselor Roseann Abbrucato accepted the gifts from Kiwanis President Mary Spina, Faculty Kiwanis Advisor Sandy Griffin and Kiwanis member Joann Berg, who worked hard acquiring the gifts.

Winner Selected for Yankee Ticket Raffle 2016

On August 23rd, The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge held its prize drawing for four free tickets in the Delta Suite skybox for the New York Yankees’ September 10th game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium. The lucky winner was Louie Georgetti of Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y. Congratulations to Mr.Georgetti, who also earns free snacks, free parking and admission to the Audi Club and Mohegan Sun Bar as part of his prize. This fundraiser proved to be the most successful fundraiser our club has held and we would like to thank everyone who purchased chances. All proceeds goes towards various children’s charities. Thank you to all who made this fundraiser such a success.

First Annual Business Leader of the Year Named

In an effort to revitalize business links to Kiwanis as it had been in the glory days of Kiwanis International, on May 10th the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge named its first annual Business Leader of the Year. The club named Old Bridge Funeral Home owner and manager David Hernandez to the prestigious honor. David is the owner of several successful funeral homes in New Jersey and he is a current sponsor and member of the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge.
Also honored at the Kiwanis’ May 10th meeting were faculty advisors of the Carl Sandburg Middle School Builders Club and K-Kids advisors from elementary schools James McDivitt and Scott Carpenter. McDivitt School was also given special recognition for its generosity in donating the $500 it earned for the Old Bridge Township’s Beach Cleanup Project back to the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge to help the club charter elementary school K-Kids clubs.
Accepting awards were Carl Sandburg’s Sandy Griffin and Michelle Conticchio, McDivitt’s Phyllis Bloom, Jennifer Conticchio, Danielle Gleason, Michelle George and Martha Trelles (in absentia) and Carpenter’s Suzanne Schiavo, Jerilyn DiMicco, Stephanie Kitchenman and Kristy Tymon (all in absentia).IMAG0054

Sandburg tableThe Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge hosted its main fundraiser of the year, Comedy Night 2016, on Saturday, April 16th. Comedian Mike Morse was the headliner of this comedy event, held at Old Bridge’s Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh. Adam Kerr also performed. The Kiwanis Club had over 40 prize baskets in its tricky tray event and also awarded a two night stay at the Wyndham hotel in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Guests enjoyed a fine, four-course meal as well as a 50-50 drawing and the comedy show.

Old Bridge Little League Treasurer Brett Bannerman visited the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge at its March 22 meeting in order to present a plaque in thanks for the Kiwanis sponsorship of a little league team. Bannerman, who was present with his sons Tyler and Ryan, presented Kiwanis President Mary Spina with the plaque, which was created in the shape of home plate. Attached to the plaque was a photo of the little league team, which had a great season and won a division championship. This was the third consecutive year that the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge sponsored a little league team and the second straight year the club was presented with a plaque.

The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge recently donated toys for 26 needy students who attend Carl Sandburg Middle School in Old Bridge. Thanks to the generosity of St. Cecilia’s Church in Iselin and the hard work of prospective Kiwanis member Joann Berg and Kiwanis President Mary Spina, the toys were donated to the Sandburg students anonymously through the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge and the Sandburg Guidance Department. The donation was just in time for the Hanukah and Christmas seasons. The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge celebrated in the Holiday fashion with a dinner meeting at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in Old Bridge on December 8.

Yankee Ticket Raffle Winner Named

The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge held its raffle drawing for four seats in the Delta Skybox 360 suite at Yankee Stadium for the Yanks’ September 5th game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The drawing was held on August 25th in the Old Bridge courtroom and the winner was Elyse Constantin of Teaneck. In addition to the tickets, Mrs.Constantin will receive a free parking pass, complimentary light refreshments and admittance to the Audi Club and Mohegan Sun Bar. This raffle fundraiser proved to be very successful as the club brought in slightly more than $200 over last year’s total.

Kiwanis Announces Donations

After its successful April fundraiser “Comedy Night 2015,” the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge was able to make sizable contributions to many of its regular charities and a couple of new ones as well. The Club made donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Old Bridge Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Aids Resource Foundation for Children, Old Bridge Relay for Life, Camp Robin and chapters for the diseases Lupus and Cystic Fibrosis. The club is in the midst of its drive to sell chances for four tickets in a luxury skybox with free parking, snacks and admission to the Audi Club and Mohegan Sun Bar for the New York Yankees’ September 5th game against Tampa Bay. Anyone interested in purchasing chances for $5 each should contact a club member.

Comedy Night 2015 Fundraiser

The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge held its main fundraiser of the year on Saturday, April 18 at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh hall in Old bridge. Comedy Night 2015, starring comedians Adam Kerr and Tom Caldora, was a sell-out and a complete success. Over 30 baskets were awarded during the tricky tray portion of the event and guest Jackie Interdonato won the 50/50 raffle of $359 and she happily donated $50 back to the club. Comedy Night Fundraiser Announced

The Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge will host its major fundraiser of the year, “Comedy Night 2015” on Saturday, April 18 at the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Old Bridge. Professional comedians Adam Kerr and Tom Caldora will perform in addition to a hot buffet, tricky tray, 50/50 raffle and cash bar. Tickets are priced at $40. All proceeds go towards children’s charities such as Make-A-Wish Foundation and others. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets may contact us through this website or by phone at 732-407-3568. Only 150 tickets have been printed, so get yours early.
