First Annual Business Leader of the Year Named

In an effort to revitalize business links to Kiwanis as it had been in the glory days of Kiwanis International, on May 10th the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge named its first annual Business Leader of the Year. The club named Old Bridge Funeral Home owner and manager David Hernandez to the prestigious honor. David is the owner of several successful funeral homes in New Jersey and he is a current sponsor and member of the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge.
Also honored at the Kiwanis’ May 10th meeting were faculty advisors of the Carl Sandburg Middle School Builders Club and K-Kids advisors from elementary schools James McDivitt and Scott Carpenter. McDivitt School was also given special recognition for its generosity in donating the $500 it earned for the Old Bridge Township’s Beach Cleanup Project back to the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge to help the club charter elementary school K-Kids clubs.
Accepting awards were Carl Sandburg’s Sandy Griffin and Michelle Conticchio, McDivitt’s Phyllis Bloom, Jennifer Conticchio, Danielle Gleason, Michelle George and Martha Trelles (in absentia) and Carpenter’s Suzanne Schiavo, Jerilyn DiMicco, Stephanie Kitchenman and Kristy Tymon (all in absentia).IMAG0054
